Please make sure to contact ACCA (Athens Community Council on Aging): Demand Response to confirm details of their transportation services.
Provides rides for only the following purposes: necessary errands, medical appointments, grocery shopping, or social or recreational purposes. Also, you must meet at least one of these criteria: you are 60+ years old, or you have a disability. No membership is required.
The Demand Response program provides transportation services for individuals aged 60 and older. This program offers shared van rides, with a flat fee structure based on income level. For those who meet the low-income criteria, there is no direct charge for the service, but donations are encouraged and accepted. Older adults with incomes above the poverty threshold are charged a $10.00 fee per one-way trip to help cover vehicle operation costs.
Riders must schedule their trips in advance, providing flexibility for planning their transportation needs. The program ensures curb-to-curb transportation, making it convenient for older adults to access essential services and maintain their independence. With a focus on affordability and accessibility, the Demand Response program aims to meet the diverse transportation needs of older adults within the community.
