The Rural Transportation Service is a public transit program that offers convenient and affordable transportation options for older adults and residents in the area. This program is designed to help individuals travel within and outside of Montpelier, as well as within Bear Lake County. Riders aged 60 and older can benefit from flat fee pricing, with suggested donations of $2.00 for one-way rides within an eight-mile radius from Montpelier, $8.00 for trips outside of the radius but still within Bear Lake County, and $4.00 plus $1.00 per mile for trips leaving Bear Lake County. For more information on trips leaving the county, individuals can contact the program directly. Transportation is provided via bus or train, and riders are required to schedule their rides in advance, with shared ride options available. Cash payment is accepted for the services provided. The Rural Transportation Service offers curb-to-curb transportation, ensuring that older adults can easily access the transportation they need to get to their desired destinations.
