Driver/Guide Transportation is a convenient program that offers older adults the opportunity to receive private transportation services via car for their personal errands. Participants can take advantage of this program by paying a subsidized rate per mile for up to 200 miles per month to a person of their choosing, such as a volunteer driver. The current pricing for Driver/Guide Transportation is set at 25 cents per mile for a total of $50 or 50 cents per mile, with riders being responsible for a small portion of the mileage reimbursement cost. Riders have the flexibility to schedule their rides a few days in advance, allowing them to plan their transportation needs accordingly. Additionally, participants can pre-pay for their trips and are charged based on the mileage traveled. This program not only offers door-to-door transportation but also includes assistance with packages or bags, providing a seamless and accommodating experience for older adults. Furthermore, riders are permitted to bring service animals along with them during their travels. One of the convenient features of Driver/Guide Transportation is the option for the driver to wait for the passenger while they complete their errands or attend appointments, ensuring a smooth and reliable transportation experience for older adults.
