The Volunteer Rural Elderly or Disabled Transportation Program facilitates affordable and accessible transportation services for older adults and individuals with disabilities living in rural areas. With the option to pay using insurance or a flat fee structure, this program ensures flexibility and ease of use for its participants. Transportation is provided using cars, offering convenient curb-to-curb services for riders within the same county for a flat fee of $6 per one-way trip.
For rides outside of the county, the program charges $.55 per mile, with the option of shared rides to further accommodate the needs of older adults. To utilize this service, riders are required to schedule their trips in advance, allowing for efficient planning and coordination. Payments can be made using credit cards or cash, providing convenient options for riders.
